Come and join in this day of bucolic jollity, never before experienced in East Garston
Manor Farm Orchard, East Garston 10:30 – 13:30
Wassailing is an ancient English community custom focused on blessing apple orchards to ensure a bountiful harvest by appeasing the spirits, it involves a ceremony of singing, dancing, and making noise to awaken the trees and ward off evil spirits, while also offering cider and a toast to the trees and spirits. It combines ancient beliefs with a community celebration of nature.
It will be held in Manor Farm Orchard followed by more merriment at the Social Club and Priscilla’s Kitchen and with the premiere of the East Garston Mummers play, another ancient tradition not seen in the village for hundreds of years.
This event is generously supported by Tutts Clump Cider
